Welcome to the blog for Oak Park Baptist Church’s Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide.  Here we’ll post Scripture readings and corresponding devotionals that go along with our sermon series.

The purposes of this Bible Reading and Devotional Guide are two-fold.  First, we want, as a church, to encourage searching the Scriptures to find out about the God we serve and the amazing salvation he offers through Jesus.  To help, we’re giving out a guide that you can use to help you read the Bible.  Second, we want to give more opportunity to both prepare for and reflect on Sunday’s sermons, so that Sundays don’t become just one-time events without any further thought.  Thus, these devotions are set up with three days of preparation for the sermon (Wed-Fri) and two days of reflection on the sermon (Mon-Tue).

This was a collaborative effort of the pastors and interns here at Oak Park.  We each took different weeks on which to write, trying to help flesh out the idea of each sermon in the Healthy Church Member series.  The idea of the readings is not to pre- or post-preach the same thing you’ll hear on Sunday, but to reinforce and enhance.  We hope you’ll find that beneficial.

We’re hoping to continue producing these devotionals as we go throughout the year.  But we also want these to be as helpful to you as possible.  So, as you use this, we invite your feedback on ways we could improve as we move forward.

Blessings!
Your pastors (Nathan, Jonathon, & Bill)
along with your interns (Chris, Eddie, and Caleb)
